At House of Pacific, every garment begins as a vision—an artistic dream conceived by the founders, Kristina and Leila. These designs are thoughtfully hand sketched and refined, reflecting the soul of our brand and its deep connection to the Pacific. Once perfected, these visions are entrusted to skilled artisans who hand-carve each block from wood, a meticulous process that demands both patience and precision. Every curve, line, and detail is etched with care, transforming raw timber into tools of timeless beauty that serve as the foundation of our block-printing tradition.
The magic truly unfolds when these hand-carved blocks meet fabric. Our artisans harness natural elements like pomegranate, which is boiled with water to yield a rich mustard yellow, or a blend of natural gum paste and alum to create a striking red. Our organic cotton fabric is prepared with equal reverence. Artisans beat the wet lengths against river stones, smoothed by years of use, to soften the fibers. Then laid out under the sun, the fabric dries and is naturally bleached, shedding dust and impurities in a process that’s as organic as it is effective. It’s in these subtle imperfections—born of human hands and nature’s touch—that our garments find their character.
Each pattern is stamped onto the fabric by hand, color by color, in a rhythmic dance of repetition and alignment. The artisan presses the block into the pigment and then onto the cotton, building the design layer by layer. This methodical process ensures that every hue and motif aligns perfectly, yet it’s the slight irregularities—the human imprint—that make each piece extraordinary. No two fabrics are identical; the gentle variations in pressure or placement create an artistic effect that machines could never replicate. At House of Pacific, we celebrate these imperfections as the heartbeat of our craft, a testament to the hands that carve, stamp, and shape every garment. Through this time-honored technique, our dreams become wearable stories—unique, vibrant, and deeply rooted in tradition.
